Fond du Lac High School is announcing Tom Dechant and Seth Huttner as the Fond Du Lac Track and Field co-head coaches.
Coach Dechant brings over 20 years of coaching experience across various events and age groups, including his role as head coach of Kaukauna High School's girls' track team from 2019 to 2021. His coaching journey, which began at Kimberly High School in 1998, reflects his dedication to excellence. In his first year on district staff, Dechant splits his time between Sabish Middle School and Fond du Lac High School, supporting students with special needs.
Coach Huttner, head coach of Fondy's boys' and girls' cross country teams since 2023, also coached distance events during the 2024 track season. “I am looking forward to being a part of building the Fondy Track and Field culture to be competitive in our conference and state,” said Huttner. “It will be great learning from and teaming with Tom Dechant. His experience coaching and developing a winning culture will definitely bring positivity to this community. Fond du Lac is blessed to have so much athletic potential. It’s time to get to work.”
Dechant’s coaching philosophy emphasizes hard work, leadership and preparing student-athletes for life beyond sports. "Track and field teaches valuable life skills like perseverance and time management," Dechant said. “Our program gives athletes the tools to succeed both on and off the track, whether they are competing at an elite level or trying the sport for the first time.”
Together, Dechant and Huttner will focus on leadership, teamwork, and fostering strong communication within the team. Their inclusive approach ensures that all athletes, whether pursuing top competition or personal fitness, feel engaged and supported.
Please join us in welcoming Coach Dechant to the Fondy Athletics community and congratulating Coach Huttner on his additional leadership role within the Track and Field program.
